- The Royal British Columbia Museum is one of the foremost cultural museums in the world.
- It was founded in the year 1886 and the archives were founded in 1894.
- In 2003, two organizations integrated to become British Columbia's combined provincial museum and archives, collecting artifacts, documents and specimens of British Columbia's natural and human history.
