Drepanaspis

Drepanaspis belongs to heterostracans means an extinct jawless fish with the anterior part of its body covered with bony plates; these fishes exist mostly in the Silurian and Devonian period.

Drepanaspis were well adapted bottom dwellers, which scavenges in the mud of the seabed for its own food. The front of its body was broad and flattened, this flattened form suggests that it was nektobenthic, the term used to describe organisms that swim near the bottom of a sea or lake.

Drepanaspis

The eyes of Drepanaspis were set wide on both the sides of the upturned mouth. Armored heterostracans like Drepanaspis decline after preceding Silurian and disappear in the Devonian.
