Ichthyosaurus belongs to the family of ichthyosaurs dinosaur that lived during the late Triassic and early Jurassic period. Its fossils were first recovered in scattered regions of Europe especially in Belgium, England and Switzerland. This species was the first recovered fossil in the early 19th century by Mary Anning in England.
