Dimetrodon belongs to the family of synapsid dinosaur which lived during the Early Permian period, over 295–272 million years ago. The fossil skeleton of this species were first recovered in southwestern regions of the United States. The dinosaur walked on four legs. The distinguishing features of Dimetrodon include elongated spines at back and curved skull consisting massive teeth of varied sizes.
